This 4900-word zine details a road trip from Seattle to Minnesota—two sanctuaries of trans life—through some of the most queer-hostile places in America. The cars are an eclectic pair of 80s metal: the worst American car ever made, and perhaps the finest French machine in history. The route traces the long-defunct Milwaukee Road’s Pacific Extension. Along the way, I try to discover the root of American nostalgia and the cause of our modern hopelessness.
